Abdi Noor Re-Elected as FKF Machakos Chairman, Promises to Boost Grassroots Football

There was excitement and celebration as Abdi Noor secured his second term as Chairman of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Machakos Branch. The elections, held at Muslim Township Primary School in Machakos town, saw Noor emerge victorious with 19 votes, defeating his rival Onesmus Wambua, who garnered 12 votes.

Speaking after his win, Noor expressed gratitude to the people of Machakos for entrusting him with the position once again. He pledged to focus on developing football in the region, emphasizing its role in fostering sportsmanship and nurturing talent at the grassroots level.

Noor outlined his vision to transform Machakos into a vibrant football hub by leveraging partnerships and sponsorships to unlock the potential of young players. He called on stakeholders to collaborate with the federation to create meaningful opportunities and strengthen grassroots structures, which he identified as key to the success of football in the region.

Acknowledging existing challenges such as player transportation, referee payments, and team sponsorships, Noor assured the community that discussions with potential sponsors and stakeholders are in progress to address these issues comprehensively.

He also lauded the efforts of Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti for supporting youth talent through the Governor Wavinya Cup tournament, which offers a grand prize of Ksh 1 million. Noor noted that the initiative has attracted 12,000 aspiring players and 640 teams, providing a platform for young talent to thrive and inspiring the next generation of footballers in Machakos.
